It’s not as easy as you think to hire a car from Saint Helier Jersey. Unfortunately there are no car hire desks in the ferry port (there used to be if you’ve travelled previously). No hire companies will drop you a car down to St Helier, trust us we’ve asked them all. This means you’ll need to go to the airport and collect your hire car. Yes this is a pain, but we’ve got everything covered below.

How to get from St Helier to Jersey airport?
You’ve just arrived into Jersey as a foot passenger on either Condor Ferries or Manche IIes Express, depart the ferry and you’ll be routed to your luggage collection after passing through security. You’ll then arrive into the harbour arrivals hall, from here you you can either jump in the pre-ordered taxi or walk to the bus terminal in town – more details below.
Taxi from Saint Helier to Jersey Airport
This is by far the quickest way to get to the airport and collect your rental car. It will take around 14-18 minutes depending on the time of day. It’s definitely best to pre-book your taxi in Jersey, as if its busy you can end up waiting a while.

Catch the Bus from Saint Helier to Jersey Airport
This is the cheapest option to get to the airport before collecting your hire car. But it does require a 11 minute walk to Liberty Bus Station in town, which is located behind Liberty Wharf Shopping Centre. Its a fairly easy walk, flat all the way, and even zebra crossings to allow you across the busier roads. Even with children this will be okay. As you leave the ferry terminal, you’ll need to follow the signposts to “Town” or “Liberty Bus Station”
It takes approximately 20 minutes to get to the airport on the No 9 or 22 bus – which drops you just outside the airport, with 5 more minutes left to walk to the car hire desks inside the departures hall. Or if you catch the No 15 it takes slightly longer, (35 minutes) but will drop you right inside the airport and next to the car hire desks. It’s worth checking out Bus Times before you arrive. Here is how much it will cost:
