Water-sports

Surfing

Jersey is well known for its excellent surfing conditions and remains a significant location for Europe’s surf scene. St Ouen’s Bay on the west of the island even played host to the 1960’s surfing championships where thousands gathered to watch the British Surf team.

You will now be able to find surfboards to hire or lessons at multiple locations around the island. St Ouen’s is the most popular beach for surfing with its 3 miles long sandy stretch. More experienced surfers will be able to explore the larger swells but there is also space for beginners to test out the shallower waters.

Kayaking

Kayaking is a popular choice of activity on the island. Is this because of the crystal-clear blue waters or the fantastic wildlife that occupies the coastline? You will have to decide that for yourself!

You can opt to hire kayaks and explore independently, or you can choose to join a tour where you venture out with a qualified instructor to explore the island’s treasures. Look out for the sunset tours for a truly magical evening.

Coasteering

Jersey is a haven for coasteering with its rock-pools, beautiful clifftop views and fantastic wildlife. You can choose the level of difficulty from the relaxing route around Gorey or feed your adventurous side with the Greve De Lecq and enjoy jumping into the sea from heights, exploring caves and much more.

Kids & Family Activities

Jersey has something for the whole family to enjoy, whether you need to tire out the kids, or simply have some time out where all ages can unwind.

Fort Adventures in Mount Bingham has the biggest indoor soft play area in Jersey where the youngsters can go wild and burn off their energy whilst you sit and enjoy some of what the Humphrey’s café has to offer. The centre also has electric mini quads for the visitors to try out their motor skills and release their inner racer. There is also the option to book on to holiday camps and activity days for children throughout the year.

The Valley Adventure Centre in St Brelade is a buzzing hub of activity for all ages to enjoy. Here, you can get involved with climbing, paintballing and laser combat, or you can even book on to a session with qualified instructors to improve your archery skills. Like Fort Adventures, the Valley Adventure Centre has holiday camps and clubs to keep the youngsters entertained.

But the best activity by far is just getting out and exploring, grab your fishing nets, head to the beach at low tide and look for crabs and other interesting sea creatures.  The kids will love it!

Outdoor Activities

One of the best things about Jersey is its amazing scenery and coastline, making it the perfect location for walking. The island has three SSI’s (sites of special scientific interest) due to the nature that resides there: the Gorselands in the south west, Les Landes in the north west, and the sand dunes at St Ouen’s Bay. Here you will find protected wildlife that is rare and unique to the island.

If you’re looking to zen out on your Jersey escape, you might be interested in some sun salutations on the sand. St Brelade’s Bay Hotel offers beach yoga sessions Monday and Wednesday evenings (weather dependent) and acts as the perfect end to the day, allowing you to stretch out your muscles while breathing in the gorgeous Jersey sea air. There are also summer sessions for those staying at Daisy Cottage Campsite off St Ouen’s Bay.

Have you ever tried sand sailing? Why not give it a go at St Aubin’s Bay. Here, you can race down the glorious sand in a 3-wheeled blo-kart using the wind to guide you. You will have an instructor to show you how to master the art before having some time to race around as you please.

Indoor or Winter Activities

Winter in Jersey is a magical time, with Christmas festivities brightening up the whole of St Helier. You can take part in the Battle of Flowers Christmas Parade, or simply just wander through the stunning market filled with local, authentic goodies.

If Christmas hasn’t quite started on the island yet, there are still an abundance of excitements going on indoors.

Cineworld Jersey in St Helier is a great option for those slower days where you just want to escape to another world. Offering 3D and VIP seating with a great snack outlet to pick up the essential popcorn, there’s a reason that the cinema is a popular choice for families and friends to pass time in the cooler months.

Jersey Bowl in St Peter is the island’s only tenpin bowling centre. The centre has 18 lanes, a games arcade, a large projection screen for sports viewings and plenty of food and drink options from the a la carte restaurant or a Thai takeaway. It’s easy to spend a whole day here for a great time with friends and family.
